Kofta Aloo is a delicious Pakistani curry made with juicy minced meat koftas and tender potatoes cooked in a spicy tomato-onion gravy. This comforting dish is perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
🧅 Ingredients
For Koftas

½ kg minced beef or chicken

1 small onion (very finely chopped or grated)

1 green chili (finely chopped)

1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
-
2 tbsp fresh coriander (chopped)
-
1 tbsp besan (gram flour)
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 tsp red chili powder
-
½ tsp cumin powder
-
½ tsp garam masala
For Curry
-
3 tbsp oil
-
1 medium onion (finely chopped)
-
2 tomatoes (blended)
-
2 medium potatoes (cubed)
-
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 tsp red chili powder
-
½ tsp turmeric powder
-
1 tsp coriander powder
-
½ tsp cumin powder
-
½ tsp garam masala
-
2 cups water (or as needed)
For Garnish
-
Fresh coriander
-
Green chilies (optional)
🍲 Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Koftas

In a bowl, combine minced meat, onion, green chili, ginger-garlic paste, coriander, besan, and spices.

Mix well and shape into small round koftas.

Keep aside.
Step 2: Make the Curry Base

Heat oil in a pot.

Add onions and fry until golden.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute.

Add blended tomatoes and cook until oil separates.

Add all dry spices and mix well.
Step 3: Add Potatoes & Koftas

Add potatoes and ½ cup water.
-
Gently place koftas into the curry. Do not stir.

Cover and cook on low heat for 20–25 minutes until koftas and potatoes are cooked.
Step 4: Finish

Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with coriander.

Simmer uncovered for 2–3 minutes.
