๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿณ Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Baray Batter

Wash and soak urad dal (and moong dal if using) for 6–8 hours.

Drain water and grind the dal into a thick, smooth batter using little water.

Add salt and cumin seeds. Beat the batter well until fluffy.

Step 2: Fry the Baray

Heat oil in a deep pan on medium heat.

Wet your hand, take a small portion of batter, and gently drop it into the oil.

Fry until golden and crispy on both sides.

Remove and place on kitchen paper.

Step 3: Soak the Baray

Soak fried baray in warm salted water for 10–15 minutes.

Gently squeeze out excess water and set aside.

Step 4: Prepare Yogurt

Whisk yogurt with sugar and salt until smooth and creamy.

Step 5: Assemble

Arrange baray in a serving dish.

Pour yogurt generously over them.

Drizzle tamarind and green chutney on top.

Sprinkle red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, and chaat masala.

๐ŸŒŸ Tips for Perfect Dahi Baray

Always beat the batter well to make baray soft.

Use thick yogurt for best texture.

Don’t over-fry; baray should be light golden, not dark.

๐Ÿฅ— Serving Suggestion

Serve chilled as an iftar snack or as part of a chaat platter with papri and boiled potatoes.
